New Trobairitz Sleuth novel published

Salt’s Wound is available now in ebook and paperback. All that glitters is not gold in this medieval tale of poison, diamonds, and salt, set in the Pyrenees mountains. A sharp-tongued female troubadour and an observant lady’s maid deal with murder, a revenant, a suspected fratricide, and some very bad weather.

5* review by Maybelle on Amazon

‘This mediaeval murder mystery is set amongst the dramatic and stormy mountain landscapes of the Pyrénées and the ancient territory of Aragón. Meticulously researched – including maps – with rich detail of the setting and society, and the lyrics of the era, illustrating a satisfying tale that is full of twists and turns. There is even a trial by combat.

The series will appeal to fans of Brother Cadfael, but Beatriz the protagonist is a young female troubadour (trobairitz) in the service of Philippa of Tolosa (Toulouse), a noblewoman about to enter an arranged marriage. In a world where women lack agency, the author has succeeded in giving our heroine a skilful and intelligent, yet convincing role.

I was immersed in this novel and read eagerly to the conclusion.’
